duodenum: first part of small intestine
jejunum: middle part of small intestine
ileum: end part of small intestine
vermiform appendix: extension with no apparent purpose on the large intestine
ileocecal valve: prevents material flowing back into small intestine
ascending, transverse, and descending colon: parts of the large intestine (in order)
sigimoid colon: S-curve at the end of the large intestine
rectum: end of the large intestine
anal canal/anus: hole for eliminating waste
